How to attach a neck strap to a trombone?

I just got a new Yamaha student trombone, and when I opened the case, I noticed that there was a neck strap that looked like a saxophone neck strap, only with two clips on the end. I was wondering if this is a trombone neck strap-if so how and why could I use it- or if it was just put in there by accident. Thanks!!
