Ruislip Eagles Handball Club was formed in 1970 when they were based in the old South Ruislip Leisure centre. The Club have previously been known as Graphite Eagles (when sponsored by Graphite Equipment Ltd) and Robert Jenkins (Graphite were acquired by Robert Jenkins Systems and the name changed as a result of this). The mens and womens teams were started and coached by Bill Holderness, a GB goalkeeper. The teams were largely made up of British players but gradually more and more overseas players joined the club and brought new skills and experience. The club enjoyed a successful spell through the 1980s when many of their players were picked for the national team and the women won the league on several occasions alongside fierce rivals Wakefield mens team. The station is on the Uxbridge branch of both the Metropolitan line and Piccadilly line, between Ruislip Manor and Ickenham stations. The station is located on West End Road (A4180). It is in Travelcard Zone 6. The Metropolitan Railway (Harrow and Uxbridge Railway) constructed the line between Harrow on the Hill and Uxbridge and commenced services on 4 July 1904 with, initially, Ruislip being the only intermediate stop. At first, services were operated by steam trains, but track electrification was completed in the subsequent months and electric trains began operating on 1 January 1905. The formation was made wide enough at Ruislip to enable another pair of tracks to be constructed as passing loops or additional platform roads. Neither has ever occurred. Despite being in business for only two years, the club played a significant role in in the early history of British bebop, a form of modern jazz.The club was so named because it had 11 founders business manager Harry Morris and ten British bebop musicians. It was first opened at 41 Great Windmill Street in Soho in 1948, and had two house bands, one led by Ronnie Scott and the other by John Dankworth. Scotts sidemen included Tony Crombie, Lennie Bush, Tommy Pollard, and Hank Shaw, while Dankworths included Leon Calvert, Bernie Fenton, Joe Muddell, and Laurie Morgan. When Scott toured the U.S., Don Rendell filled his spot. Denis Rose organized many of the activities at the club. In 1950 the club moved to 50 Carnaby Street, but shuttered a few months after the move as a consequence of a police raid.In 2009 Club Eleven was named by the Brecon Jazz Festival as one of 12 venues which had made the most important contributions to jazz music in the United Kingdom.
