Where can I find a self help guide to tuning an old piano?

It’s a really old piano, at the school I go to. I really love to play, but it needs to be tuned badly. Any suggestions would be welcome.
My school doesn’t have a piano teacher, I was kinda hoping I could getting done without costing myself a whole lot of money. I don’t make a lot here at school.

Since you stated your school doesn’t HAVE a piano teacher, guess you can’t ask the piano teacher. (So go ahead and ask here!)

I wonder if someone at your church may be able to help or know someone? If you can’t find anyone, and have to resort to the yellow pages, maybe you could get them to make a “donation” of tuning the piano (since it’s for a school…I’m assuming not-for-profit school). They may not know until the end of their fiscal year if they need a tax deduction, so you may have to wait for them. It’s worth a try though. The worst think they can say is, “No.” Which is no big deal. You’ll never know unless you ask.

Also, another business could pay for the tuning, and write it off THEIR taxes, so if you’re good at asking for donations, that may be another route to go. I wonder if there is a university with a music department that may be able to give you some direction?
