Modal Jazz Characteristics

Characteristics of ragtime, modal, cool, fusion jazz?
Thats a wide range of variety your asking for right there.
Ragtime is a genre that developed in America during the late 1890s and its pretty known for its jumpy pianos. If you want a reference, just think about the jumpy piano tunes that are classic for western movies at taberns. They also used ragtime a lot as musical background for mute movies as well.
A song that really illustrates ragtime is “The entertainer”. You can look it up in youtube or something. Another really famous one is a track from the musical “Jesuschrist Superstar” by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The theme song for Jesus’ enterview with Pilatus’.
Here you can read a lot about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragtime
Cool Jazz, its a genre that was born in the mid 50s. It was the result the evolution and confluence of Be-Bop.
Modal Jazz my friend is a gigantic term that swirls around Modal theory, which is the use of scales to create different ambiences depending on the color of the scale (saying color its a very general way to describe specific numeric relationships inbetween the notes of the scales). Medieval, scandinavian, tribal, flamenco, etc etc etc etc you name it, if its there is a scale, there is a mode to interpret it. And its result in Jazz music is Modal Jazz.
Fusion: A little bit of this, a little bit of that. This and that are open for every musican to choose.

Identification of Modal Parameters of a Rocket $95.59 Modal parameters of spacecraft structures are important indicators of their dynamic characteristics which can be used for vibration reduction and control. In the present research modal parameters of a rocket are identified by using continuous wavelet transformation. The advantages of the wavelet transformation for the modal parameters identification over other methods is study. Through finite element method transient dynamic response of a system is determined then continuous wavelet transformation is applied to find the modal parameters like modal frequency, mode shapes and damping ratio. The Ancestry of Jazz: A Musical Family History $32.25 In 1917, the members of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band made the first jazz recordings and announced that they had invented this new music. However, since the appearance of Buddy Boldens band in 1897, jazz had regularly been performed in New Orleans dance halls. But did it just appear at that time? Did it descend from the music of jungle drums played in New Orleans Congo Square, or was the backwoods country reel its actual ancestor? Was it invented by Creole dance band musicians, by Buddy Bolden, or by white street players? In The Loudest Trumpet: Buddy Bolden and the Early History of Jazz, Daniel Hardie told the story of Buddy Boldens music, and in Exploring Early Jazz: The Origins and Evolution of the New Orleans Style he described the beginnings of the new music and its development in the thirty years before the first jazz recordings. In The Ancestry of Jazz: A Musical Family History he investigates and describes the musical families introduced to Americas English, French and Spanish colonies and their descendants, to uncover the connections between them, the musical sources from which the characteristics of Early Jazz were derived, and their influence on American popular music.
