How long is a double french horn when its uncoiled?
(in ft please!)
i thought a single horn is 12ft
Hi,
A F horn is Indeed about 12 feet and a Bb horn is about 8 feet. But because a double horns shares pipe between the 2 instruments it is not 20 feet. Without finding the chart I use to design horns I would guess that the extra Bb pipes add maybe 3 feet, so a Double would be close to 15 feet counting all pipe. (again the air only travels 8 or 12 feet at a time)
