High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Browser service or Computer Browser Service is a feature of Microsoft Windows to let users easily browse and locate shared resources in neighboring computers. This is done by aggregating the information in a single computer Browse Master (or Master Browser). All other computers contact this computer for information and display in the Network Neighborhood window. Browser service runs on MailSlot / Server Message Block and thus can be used with all supported transport protocol such as NetBEUI, IPX/SPX and TCP/IP. Browser service relies heavily on broadcast, so it is not available across network segments separated by routers. Browsing across different IP subnets need the help of Domain Master Browser, which is always the Primary Domain Controller (PDC). Therefore browsing across IP subnets is not possible in a pure workgroup network. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Broadcast Syndication

Broadcast Syndication

$81.25

In broadcasting, syndication is the sale of the right to broadcast radio shows and television shows to multiple individual stations, without going through a broadcast network. It is common in countries where television is scheduled by networks with local affiliates, particularly in the United States. In the rest of the world, however, most countries have centralized networks without local affiliates and syndication is less common, although shows can also be syndicated internationally Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 90 Publication Date: 2009/11/24 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.21 inches

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles 102.2 Jazz FM (also known as London Jazz Radio and JFM) was a local jazz and soul music station for London run by GMG Radio. The station was based and broadcast from Castlereagh Street in London to around 15.5 million people within the broadcasting area. The station has experimented with its core playlist over its fifteen year history, incorporating smooth jazz, mainstream jazz, soul, jazz fusion, acid jazz, blues and rhythm and blues. In 1994 the station changed its name to JFM to encourage more listeners who were put off by the Jazz in the stations name. Richard Wheatly was appointed to turn around the station in 1995 when there was only three months money left to run the station. Wheatly made a number of sweeping changes to the playlist, selling a sister station and changing the name back to Jazz FM, as well as starting up a record label and spinoff business deals and opportunities which helped Jazz FM swing into the black and make a profit in 2001. Broadcast Relay Station

Broadcast Relay Station

$92.4

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A broadcast relay station, relay transmitter, broadcast translator (U.S.), rebroadcaster (Canada), or repeater (twoway radio) is a broadcast transmitter which relays, repeats, or reflects the signal of another radio station or television station, usually to an area not covered by the signal of the originating station. They may serve, for example, to expand the broadcast range of a television or radio station beyond the primary signals coverage area, or to improve service in a part of the main coverage area which receives a poor signal due to geographic constraints. They may be (but are not usually) used to create a singlefrequency network. Less commonly, a rebroadcaster may be owned by a community group rather than the owner of the primary station. Media Stream Broadcast

Media Stream Broadcast

$109.93

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Media Stream Broadcast (MSB) protocol allows the multicast distribution of Advanced Systems Format (ASF) content over a network for which multicasting is enabled. MSB allows clients to tune in to a broadcast on a network, much like television and radio users can tune to a particular station. Windows Media Station (.nsc) file is used for the session description. Advanced Systems Format (formerly Advanced Streaming Format, Active Streaming Format) is Microsofts proprietary digital audio/digital video container format, especially meant for streaming media. ASF is part of the Windows Media framework.ASF is based on serialized objects which are essentially byte sequences identified by a GUID marker. A Molecular and Extensible Network Storage Architecture

A Molecular and Extensible Network Storage Architecture

$157.72

Contemporary distributed file systems are monolithic and only support single file abstractions. Nowadays, as SaiLai Lo explains, network storage devices have to accommodate new information media such as digital audio and video, with data radically different from the traditional text and binary code that contemporary file systems are optimized for. In this book, the author shows how, by combining new and traditional media, information can be recorded and presented in the most suitable way, and the value of a piece of information can be further enhanced by linking together related pieces. However, composite data and crossreference between data items raise a number of system issues that have not been addressed properly before. Lo defines a new multiservice storage architecture that meets the needs of existing and emerging applications and can support multiple file abstractions. He also explores a number of related design issues. Researchers in the areas of distributed systems, network multimedia and network storage services will enjoy this book. Open Architecture

Open Architecture

$60.54

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Open architecture is a type of computer architecture or software architecture that allows adding, upgrading and swapping components. For example, the IBM PC and Apple IIe have an open architecture, whereas the Apple IIc and Amiga 500 computers have a closed architecture. In a closed architecture, the hardware manufacturer chooses the components, and they are not generally upgradable by the end user. Open architecture is also beginning to be pushed to extend into the context of Architectural Design of Buildings by the group Architecture for Humanity. The group has developed a project called the Open Architecture Network which aims to bring the discipline of Architecture away from the closed format which is promoted by firms that choose not to share their work. Dataflow Architecture

Dataflow Architecture

$79.66

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Dataflow architecture is a computer architecture that directly contrasts the traditional von Neumann architecture or control flow architecture. Dataflow architectures do not have a program counter or (at least conceptually) the executability and execution of instructions is solely determined based on the availability of input arguments to the instructions. Although no commercially successful generalpurpose computer hardware has used a dataflow architecture, it has been successfully implemented in specialized hardware such as in digital signal processing, network routing, graphics processing and more recently in data warehousing. It is also very relevant in many software architectures today including database engine designs and parallel computing frameworks. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F.
