What seems the best? A string instument, Piano or a Brass insturment? I can play all but I just can’t choose.?
I need an instrument to play for band. And of course I can’t do all three. It’s one or the other here. We only have a stand up bass for the entire band. And don’t have many piano players cause, people don’t play pianos. Yes we have plenty of brass but only in certain sections. The band needs more baritones. I don’t know which one to choose! It make me sooooooo mad!
For concert bands, usually stringed instruments and pianos are not used. That leaves brass, which is also the most diverse of your options, since you can march, play in a jazz band, a brass ensemble, and an orchestra as well as your band, should you want to do so. If your band uses a piano often and they need one, do that, however usually pianos are not often used. Brass is usually more fun to play, more diverse, and better heard in bands.
For jazz bands, all three are important, it just depends on what sound you prefer and what role you want to play in the band, rhythm/beat, or melody.
